Balcomb Trophy Team News
Suffolk kick off their 2026 Balcomb Trophy campaign with three Eastern Region group matches at County Arts BC, Norwich on Saturday 30th May. Suffolk officers, families and supporters are very welcome to attend to encourage our team to victory. In the first match (9.30am) Suffolk will play Huntingdonshire, then Cambridgeshire at 1.00pm and Norfolk at 4pm. The group winners will then go on to the quarter-finals. 2025 Eastern Counties Finals
The 2025 Eastern Counties Finals will be held on Sunday, 10 May 2026 at Royston BC and Buntingford BC The Eastern Counties Finals are the winners of each Counties respective County Finals competing to become regional champions. The Finals are held early in the following season. This is because in 2022 there wasn’t enough calendar space to hold the Finals at the end of the season due to England hosting the Commonwealth Games. ECL Match Report vs. Cambridgeshire
Yesterday marked the start of Suffolk’s 2026 Eastern Counties League campaign. The first, and only, home match took place at the beautiful East Bergholt BC against Cambridgeshire. Due to Cambridgeshire’s inability to field an Under 25 set, the match consisted of four standard rinks and an Executive rink. Cambridgeshire had their noses in front after the first five ends, leading 24 - 26 but Suffolk began to exert control and by ten ends had reversed the positions to lead 47 -

Following squad selection I am now able to publish the team for our first game at East Bergholt on Sunday May 3rd 10.30 start. This game will be only 5 rinks as Cambridgeshire are unable to field an under 25 rink on this occasion. All subsequent games will be 6 rinks which includes a rink of under 25 players. Gwenda Rednall
Suffolk Bowls (BE) is sad to hear of the passing of Gwenda Rednall. Gwenda lost her battle with Alzheimars on Thursday 12 March, at home, peacefully, with her son, John, at her side. Gwenda's Suffolk Bowling career spanned approximately sixty years and she was a long serving John's Trophy and Walker Cup skip, lifting both national titles. Gwenda was a regular qualifier at the EWBA finals and was a prolific county champion, winning the Suffolk County Fours eight times, Triples
