They think its all over!!! Well it is now!!!
And so the Bowls England Mixed League competitions for 2024 came to a glorious end with the final of the Mixed Triples being played in the lovely setting of Framlingham Bowls Club.
Thanks must be given to Howard Isaac and the rest of the Framlingham club for hosting this final, to the greenkeepers for providing an excellent bowling surface, to the ladies and gentlemen who assisted in providing refreshments, maintaining the pavilion and the green surrounds and generally ensuring the match could take place. Thanks are also extended to Julie Spice, our match umpire, and to Michael Walker (Suffolk B.E. County President) and Dave Jolly (Junior Vice President) for attending.
The final itself saw the current holders – Ipswich – matched against Borough of Eye. This was quite fitting as each of these teams had won their respective divisions after what was an intense and long battled season. The match was hard fought with Ipswich successfully defending their title and retaining the trophy for another year.
Following the match the trophy was presented to the Ipswich team captain – Christopher Johnson – by Michael Walker and photos were taken.
May I add, in conclusion, my thanks to all the clubs that entered the B.E. Mixed Triples, the bowlers who participated, and to the team captains for their help and co-operation in ensuring games were played, albeit after some postponements.
The enjoyment I have witnessed during the matches I have attended, including those in which I played, make this league one of the best, in my opinion. I hope you all continue to support it in 2025 and for many years ahead.
Grateful thanks to Howard Isaac for the photos in this article and to Paul Wildon for the picture in the Gallery
