Middleton Cup – Essex vs. Suffolk Match Report
Our Middleton Cup campaign for 2023 came to an end at Essex County BC yesterday in a day of contrasting weather conditions and playing fortunes.
The match started in fine weather and Suffolk were holding their own against a very strong Essex side in the first half when rain didn’t stop play but certainly had an impact on the way the green played with Essex seeming to react slightly quicker to the changed conditions.
The shot differential board came out after 15 ends, showing a tally of -17. A swift burst of scoring by Suffolk dropped this to -11 but, possibly the effort of trying to force scores against a top quality opposition, this was only to be a brief rally and Essex ran out winners with a final score of 99 – 125
Top rink for Suffolk was Roger Adams, Mark Addison, Lee Calver and Elliot Last with a score of 28 - 17
