Yesterday, the men of Suffolk Bowls (B.E.) held their Annual Luncheon and Prize-Giving at the Ufford Park Hotel, Woodbridge. Hosted by Chairman Charlie Sharp and his wife Sandra, guests included Ladies President Angel Goodwin, BE Presidential Team Junior Vice President David King-Taylor and Jon Neil from Suffolk Mind, Charlie's charity for 2022
Following the loyaly toast by Charlie, Senior Vice President Gordon proposed a toast to Bowls England and Guests. David King-Taylor responded by speaking about the importance of volunteers in our sport, which is something that will be a focus of his Presidential year and also his desire to play a match at Framlingham Castle B.C. in that year
Charlie proposed a toast to Suffolk Bowls (BE) then spoke warmly about those who had helped him throughout 2022 including the various members of the Committe and their partners, the clubs who hosted the various stages of the County competitions and the competitors who achieved so much in the competitions.
Following this, Charlie presented a cheque for £2,013.00 to Jon Neil from Suffolk Mind which was donations that had been collected at the various County Friendlies and Chairman's Matches held across the County throughout the season
Jon Neil thanked Charlie and the assembled guests then explained that Suffolk Mind was part of the national Mind umberella group but that every penny raised in Suffolk is spent in Suffolk. He briefly outlined the current holistic approach to mental health and the part that Suffolk Mind plays in supporting people in difficulty.
Finally, Charlie closed this part of the proceedings by presenting John Rednall with a certificate confirming him as an Honorary Life Member of Suffolk Bowls (B.E), which was well received by all the guests who gave John a loud ovation.
The event moved on to the presentation of the trophies and prizes by Charlie and David King-Taylor, photograps of which are in the Gallery section
