What a cracking way to start a short visit to Leamington - park the car, grab a sausage bap and a coffee, then over to 'C' green to watch Felixstowe & Suffolk take on Bolton Flat Green BC from Lancashire in the semi-finals of the Tony Allcock Trophy. For those of you unfamiliar with this competition, it's two rinks of mixed fours for the Over 60's
Felixstowe & Suffolk had stamped their authority on the late stages of this competition the previous day by beating Gerrards Cross BC from Buckinghamshire in the quarter-finals
38-28. They carried on in the same vein against the Bolton side, dominating play to finish with a final score of 45-20 after 35 ends
Then followed a short break for most of the team while Julie Spice and Pat Hilson went to play Triples with Ella Baker (they won 30-9 against a Norfolk BC set) before the Final of the Tony Allcock was played on 'B' green.
Their opponents this time were Welford-On-Avon BC from Warwickshire, the home county of the National Finals. Home advantage made no difference as the Felixstowe & Suffolk team continued to dominate, eventually running out 42-23 winners in 35 ends.
Congratulations to all involved in making this a great start for club and county at the 2024 Aviva National Finals
