Yesterday saw the start of Suffolk's bid to win the 2024 Eastern Counties League, a prize that eluded us by a single point last year.
The game against Bedfordshire was played at Sandy Conservative BC in glorious weather. The host club must be congratulated for their hospitality, warm welcome and a green that, although a little heavy to begin with, played well.
Suffolk began strongly taking an early lead across four rinks and, despite a mid-match wobble, always looked to be in control. In the end, we were unlucky not to take a clean sweep, losing one rink to the last shot on the final end.
Final Score: Bedfordshire 97 - 140 Suffolk
Points Score: Bedfordshire 2 - 20 Suffolk
Top Suffolk Rink: Adam Turner, Ben Beamish, Andrew Drummond and Mark Euston
We move on now to our next match which is against Norfolk at County Arts next weekend - team details to follow
