Suffolk’s first away game of the 2026 season was at Potton BC, a change from the original venue caused by a local music festival clashing with this match.
After battling through the A428 roadworks we finally arrived at the venue and were warmly welcomed by club and county officials.

After the usual pleasantries, the rink score cards were handed out and the match began.
The opening quarter was fairly even with Suffolk holding a one shot lead after five ends then, ever so gradually, the tide began to turn and, at the halfway mark, Bedfordshire edged ahead but only by two shots.
The watching Suffolk supporters were becoming concerned now. As the scoreboards ticked over and the match reached the fifteenth end, Bedfordshire had increased their lead to nine.

All eyes were on the scoreboards now and shot differences were being mentally calculated all around the green. Then, in the final straight, Andrew Drummond’s set turned a three point deficit into a two point win, the exec rink, who had lead from the start, finished with a score that would have been a top rink winner on any other day but that accolade goes to David Andrews and his boys who dominated all the way through to to win their rink by twenty four points that sealed the match for Suffolk.
So the excitement of the Eastern Counties League is back with a 106 – 88 win on the road. Well done boys, 2 from 2 and the next stop is Hertfordshire on the 30th May.
Final Score: Bedfordshire 88 – Suffolk 106
Rink Wins: Bedfordshire 2 – Suffolk 3
Final Points: Bedfordshire 4 – Suffolk 16
Top Rink: Adam Turner / Aaron Giles / Jack Burch / David Andrews
While all this drama was going on around them, our U25 set of Harry Giles, Zac Andrews-Smith, Alfie Jackson and led by Charlie Beeton were playing their first match in the U25 series (these matches do not contribute to the overall match score and they are competing for an U25 trophy). This was a game that our Suffolk boys controlled all the way though to run out 27 – 18 winners. Well done lads, one down, four to go.
