ECL Match Report vs. Cambridgeshire

Yesterday marked the start of Suffolk’s 2026 Eastern Counties League campaign. The first, and only, home match took place at the beautiful East Bergholt BC against Cambridgeshire.

Due to Cambridgeshire’s inability to field an Under 25 set, the match consisted of four standard rinks and an Executive rink.

Cambridgeshire had their noses in front after the first five ends, leading 24 - 26 but Suffolk began to exert control and by ten ends had reversed the positions to lead 47 - 43.

By the fifteenth end the lead had stretched to 76 - 58 and even the rink that was struggling was making a fighting comeback. Suffolk eventually went on to ease further ahead and take the match by a score of 104 – 80.

So, a satisfactory start to the Eastern Counties League season and now we start the road trips, beginning next week with a visit to Potton Bowls Club, 2-12 Sutton Mill Road, Potton, Sandy, SG19 2QB to take on Bedfordshire.
