Suffolk Team vs Norfolk 2025
Suffolk Team vs Norfolk 2025

Going into the final game of the 2025 Middleton Cup group stage, Suffolk's men knew that maximum possible points were required from their game and hope that Essex dropped points in their match at Cambridgeshire.

Th early stages of the game went well, with Richard Leeders' set on Rink 1 getting a good start and at one stage Suffolk were up on all rinks. As the game progressed under a cooling sea breeze, Rink 1 continued their good progress but the remaining 5 rinks settled into close run affairs. Leads changed regularly - at one point we were drawing on three, up by 1 shot one one and down by 2 on the other - very close.

As we came to the final stages of an absorbing match it became clear that, despite some hard fought battles on most rinks, it was not to be and this was confirmed by the news coming through that Essex had whitewashed Cambridgeshire 22-0. Our final result wouldn't matter but the team gave it everything they had.

So, Suffolk finish as group runners-up and we go again in 2026.

Final score was Suffolk 108 (15) - 103 (7) Norfolk

Top rink was Charlie Beeton, Adam Turner, Kyle Leeks and Richard Leeder 26-10

Shot of the Day (seen by the writer) was by Phil Last to ditch the jack on the last end and seal a one shot win 18-17

Thanks to everyone at Felixstowe & Suffolk BC for their hospitality and well presented green - your time and effort was greatly appreciated
